What a Wonderful God! God of Surprise

I am Sr. Victoria Agius, Franciscan Missionary of Mary.

Looking back after fifyseven years of religious life I realise how marvellously God has worked in my life to draw me to Himself and to guide me to where He wanted me to be, an F.M.M.!

I hail from Hal Kirkop, born to a good catholic family where my parents worked hard to keep the family comfortable.

For quite some time I thought I was called to married life where I could form a good family like the one I lived in. However I kept asking the Lord to show me His will for my life as I was still very unsure.

We used to receive the review "Malta Missjunarja". I looked forward to read it but I had the impression that only men went to the Missions. Once I expressed this to my mother but received no reply. I remember that this was a difficult time for me and God had to come to my help. Through prayer and guidance I came to realise that the Lord wanted me all to Himself, but where? Surely a Missionary life attracted me most but again, where? I did not know any congregation. At this stage Our Lady came to my help. I went to Her feast at a nearby village and there I asked Mary to show me the convent where Our Lord was calling me. While I was there I met an old school mate and in our conversation she asked me whether I remembered her cousin. Of course I did. "She is going to be a Franciscan Missionary of Mary in Balzan" she told me. I was struck by this. It was Mary's message to me in such a short time. I too will be an F.M.M., I said to myself. My greatest joy was when I learnt that I will dedicate myself to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and to the work of the Missions. After fiften months I too joined the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. What a wonderful God! God of surprises!

So many years have passed some of which I spend sharing the Good News as a nurse in India and elsewhere. God who has called me to this wonderful vocation has always been faithful to me in good times and in not so good, filling me with Hope, Peace, Joy and Happinness in the Franciscan way.
