Go and proclaim the Good News of Salvation to the whole world
We live the gospel values on the footsteps of Francis of Assisi.
Oh! I am fed up!
Luke 5, 1-11
All of us will have said that some time or other of our life! Some will have said it more frequently than others, some with greater vehemence or bitterness that others! Yes, all of us will have felt and said, "I am fed up!"
St Peter and his colleagues felt the same when they caught nothing after struggling the whole night. That is as far as our human resources and natural strength go.
Into St Peter's life, on that morning, after a night of futile work, there steps in someone who makes a big difference: Jesus! then onwards things take a different turn altogether. Peter's work the whole night and his experience, as fisherman yielded nothing; but the presence of Jesus gives him more that he can cope with!
Very often is not that our case too? We may fell "fed up" and discouraged and disheartened, because we have been toiling the whole day and whole night, for days on end, may be without bringing in the Person whose presence would make all the difference! We may rely only on our natural resources; we may be confident of our qualifications and our experience! And we feel we have just wasted our time!
Let us remember that just as Jesus was waiting at the seashore to enter Peter's boat, He waits on the shore of our lives. We have to let Him in! Once He enters our life, in spite of pressures and tensions, difficulties and problems, it will be worthwhile; our work will be fruitful; our efforts will be so crowned with joy and happiness, and we will have to calll in our friends and neighbours to celebrate with us!
Then we will realise what it means to have Jesus with us!
